Denis' Mazda RX-7 Page

Shawn McClure's 7

This is a pictoral page of my many Mazda RX-7's. I have owned about 4 or 5 RX-7's, some being parts cars, one a street car, and the rest, well the rest were put to the test.

All photo were courtesy of my talented wife Maria, I owe her many thanks for her love of the sport and being so supportive. All photo's are copyright 2000 of Petit Photography

The primary reason for building these cars was for "hillclimb" races here in the moutains of New England. The 7's are set up similar to a road race car in SCCA. They are a cross between a GT car and a IT car. The class rules allow us to make any changes to the suspension, motor, trans, exhaust, interior, and anything else. The catch is a complicated formula that figuires in the weight of the vehicle, when in production form, and the amount or different modification made.

Various shots from races:

Sideways on the crag

This picture shows my latest 7 at the "Cragway" turn on Mt. Washington in 1997.

in the dirt

Another Cragway shot after coming out as clean as I possibly can.

In the background, you can see the "rocks" that "stop" you from going over the edge of the mountainside. It is a weird feeling approaching this turn, because you can not see the road past the crest before you enter the turn. All you see is clouds, and a big blue sky!

finally on top

At the top of Mt. Washington, you can see that the sky is not too far above, sometimes on a cloudy day, you actually drive through the clouds to get to the top.

Parking lot

Although this is not an action shot, I find myself staring at this picture, probably be cause the car is always in action when I'm around it. Besides, with the beatings I give, it deserves some peace time.
